Hi

Did the move to a new server take out the factory reinstall shell script ? I pretty much abandoned using the webbook with the orange 3G as Ihad intended, after the ubuntu image committed suicide before I could back it up. I've been running an arch linux image on it ever since, but that won't connect to the Option Icon 225 stick.

I contacted elonex earlier this week, bought one of the usb wristbands, it gets as far as copying 12% of the 3 GB of used partition then stops as if it's finished, giving me a grub error 2.

Your key by key factory reinstall was my last hope of ever seeing this machine as the seller intended. It was doing well thanks to a maplin multi-combination usb IDE and SATA drive dongle, but my attempt came off the rails when i for a 404 not found "wgetting" the build script file.

yes, backups are good, and this server we do back up. Your account got created on the import because you were the author of an article, the password is set to something random. I will try and get the accounts and other stuff migrated later.

Hmmm - my user account seems to be there, but it keeps telling me I've got an incorrect password...

Reminds me of "backup, backup, and backup again"
Backup 1 is a hard drive in the same computer (ie RAID)
Backup 2 is a hard drive in the same building (networked, or external)
Backup 3 is a hard drive off-site (ie another PC, an online backup service)

For a WordPress blog hosted on a shared server that I rent, I do this:
Main (live) copy is on their server
Second (backup) copy is maintained by them
Third (dev) copy is on my desktop, which has XAMPP installed
Fourth (backup) copy is on this webbook
Fifth (backup) copy is on my USB stick
Sixth (backup) copy is on my desktop - one the other hard drive to the web-server one

And yes, I often make use of the Tools->Backup option in WordPress!
